PUGET SOUND ENERGY UP & GO ELECTRIC PROGRAM

UP & Go is an initiative created by Puget Sound Energy to bolster electric vehicle (EV) education and promote EV adoption in Washington State.

CHALLENGE:

PSE's sustainability team sought to augment the visibility of EVs in a manner that was both impactful and useful to the public. PSE engaged my firm, States of Matter, to initially define the program, securing approval from its executive team.

MY ROLE: 

Strategy

I contributed to the conceptualization and development of the program's strategy, as well as building consensus among PSE’s stakeholders.

Creative Direction

I directed the creative vision, aligning it with the client's existing brand guidelines & strategic goals. I led a team of digital designers ensuring collaboration and design excellence for all deliverables of the program.

Strategy 

To realize PSE's objectives, the strategy team at States of Matter conducted Perception research across Washington State. We then utilized this data to identify challenges and which avenues which offered the highest impact and value. The research and program definition was successful, leading PSE to hire us for the program's launch and implementation. In my role, I contributed to the conceptualization and development of the program's strategy, as well as building consensus among stakeholders.

The program had to comply with PSE's branding guidelines, necessitating the creation of assets for PSE's internal design team to assume control after the program's launch. I both oversaw and contributed to the design of the visual identity system for the program, ensuring consensus among PSE stakeholders.

Creation & Production of Program Deliverables 

The Up & Go Program was a comprehensive integrated campaign incorporating EV test drives, expert consultations, messaging scripts, EV information brochures, video, email newsletters, and paid social media ads, all designed to heighten awareness and foster participation in the EV test drives. I oversaw and contributed to the design of all components.

With a tight deadline before Playfab’s first GDC event, we collaborated with a client selected tradeshow vendor to design and create Playfab’s tradeshow experience using existing tradeshow components. I participated in space planning, directed the design, and oversaw production.

RESULTS:

Through strategic program development and execution, we not only achieved but exceeded PSE's goal, welcoming more than 50,000 new EV owners inWashington State by 2020, contributing to a greener future.

After a successful launch, we empowered PSE to internally sustain the UP & Go program, creating a templated, extendable program deliverables that covers all facets from events to digital marketing, securing its continued success.
